Buffalo Valley Ranch offers a rustic camping experience near Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks, with options including wagons and cabins. However, recent reviews highlight significant issues with communication, bathroom cleanliness, inconsistent amenities, and sometimes rude staff. While the location and views are praised, guests frequently express concerns about the overall value and service quality.

Beautiful place, terrible communication. The ranch hands were helpful and happy to interact with kids. The place is beautiful and the theme is awesome. Close to Grand Teton and Yellowstone national parks and lots of horse related activities. Expect to wake up to revving engines and get ready to watch the horses run into camp at 7am. The horses themselves are obviously well cared for, and if you have a horse girl (like my in-laws girls) expect to spend most of a day doing horse things instead of going into the national parks. But it's 3 stars instead of 5 because of the bathrooms, management, and hospitality. I know it's a tent, no running water or electricity with a sheltered place for my sleeping bag is what I expected (put a pin in that) but it is nearly impossible to plan a long stay there effectively because of the communication issues. No, I don't mean cell phone service, though obviously that's patchy for the entire state if you are on a road trip. I mean getting a straight answer about the camp site before you arrive is hard and once you are there they are rude as if you should have magically known how the run things. The website is unclear about what is and is not at this campsite, which makes planning the trip difficult. Emails make it out like you are renting just a tent and nothing, not even wifi, is included. You see it in the many negative reviews: being suprised by having the wrong type of supplies at arrival is always a bad time even when (as we were) you are overprepared or pleasantly surprised to have more than expected. Big red flag: The "confirmation" email did not have our dates, price, or the type of booking - they have tent, wagon, and cabin - or even the number of guests or units we reserved for. It did have a very aggressive list of things we could be fined for and all the things we can pay extra to do, like riding horses and having a camp dinner on the trail. Unfortunately, that email was written as if we were staying in a bare tent or on a wooden shelf when we were in a wagon, making it seem like the following amenities did not exist: Wifi! A decently fast connection too. Four power outlets, two with USB-C ports to charge your gadgets. (Didn't need that solar panel.) Pillows and thick fleece blankets for each mattress. The wagon has four twin mattresses and one king, not bare platforms (how can we pack bedding if you don't tell us how big the beds are? Why could I not get that answer either time I asked on the phone, just told that sheets are $20 extra?) Heaters! The gas one we didn't use due to the warnings about it we received by email, phone, and one we had to initial like a contract upon arrival, but in August the little electric one provided was fine. 3 shared bathrooms for all: Floors are wood under lino with holes drilled through for drainage to make double sure the wood rots out from under them. ? The email not confirming the details may seem like a nitpick, but there was an issue with our reservation. Having worked the back end bookkeeping for small businesses- we could have left, disputed charges using that terrible email and not had to pay for the cancelation because the written description of the booking did not match the provided service. That goes triple for not quoting a price in the confirmation- I was going to cancel the moment I read the email and had to be talked out of it twice. It was a terrible first impression. It is great once you settle in. I'm glad we stayed. It's nicer than the marketing depicts. The bar and grill is a great bar, but take your camp stove into the national park and make your own pancakes. There is no cooking on the property (the most important thing for planning a week long trip was not in the email.) The plain coffee at the bar is sold chewy and burnt for Starbucks espresso prices. Descale your percolator, it will stop spilling grinds and running so hot. Saves electricity and wear and tear too. If you charge resort prices for biscuits and gravy with sausage sold separately at least get the coffee right.

I stayed in one of the wagons and it was an incredible experience. The sunrise and sunset from there are out of this world! Everything is very rustic, which makes the experience even more authentic. The front desk service was EXCEPTIONAL, I think the gentleman’s name was Jaz, and he was with a lady. They explained everything to us clearly and were very kind. The price was also excellent. The only thing is that around 6 a.m. it got a little cold inside the wagon, but that’s part of the rustic camping experience. I would 100% come back!

Read reviews prior to booking and thought “It can’t really be that bad?” I’m up for camping and expected more of a rustic experience, but our teepee was absolutely disgusting. Some reviews mentioned gravel floors, ours was several inches of sand. Cots were filthy and missing wheels, so wouldn’t sit level. One mattress had something yellow pooling on it, and we found someone else’s dirty sock under one of the cots. We opted to make a long drive home that night rather than stay there. I get the impression that not all teepees are equal, so maybe we would have had a better experience if assigned a different teepee? This place has so much potential if they invested a little money in improving accommodations. It’s a beautiful location!

I loooooooooved this place! I saw the reviews while in my teepee tent and I couldn’t believe it. This is one of my favourite places in the world. I wish I could work here. Honestly I can see the gravel in the teepee floor, the bar building being hot, the bathrooms whatever (mine where ok), and whatever issues people had with heaters… but if you need more comfort than that there’s more pricey accommodations in the lodge building which is beautiful and comfortable. The views are unbeatable and the whole ranch is fun and beautiful to experience. Every building, views and animals. Might be that I come from Florida that price is great I feel. Or that I’m Spanish that I’m loving it all. But it is a fun simple camping to experience Indian lifestyle. That’s the fun!

We stayed at this place four years ago and had a great experience — at that time, we were allowed to use our propane grill. On this recent visit, I was under the impression that the same policy was in place. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out grilling is no longer allowed. When I mentioned that we had used a grill on our previous stay, one staff member responded, “I don’t know how you managed to hide that, since we’ve never allowed them.” That comment didn’t sit well with me, especially considering our cabin was located directly in front of the cowboys' area and the main road — nothing was hidden. Prices have gone up significantly, which I might have understood if the quality of the facilities matched. I wasn't expecting luxury — it's a working ranch — but for the price we paid, I did expect basic cleanliness. Unfortunately, the bathrooms were not cleaned upon our arrival and remained that way throughout our stay. Soap dispensers were empty on day one and never refilled. Paper towels were completely out all week. The toilets were filthy, and the showers were far from clean — definitely not a place you'd feel comfortable getting clean in. While I expected some odor due to the horses, the women’s bathroom smelled like sewage because of an apparent leak. It was unpleasant and unhygienic. The parking situation was another issue. There’s no real designated parking area — it’s basically just a dirt lot where people park wherever they want. It’s completely unorganized and unsafe. One night, my mom fell getting out of the car due to the uneven ground and injured her knee. That should never happen at a place charging this much per night. Also, the lack of grilling seems to push guests toward the on-site restaurant, which is overpriced. To make matters worse, they charge a $6 fee for takeout orders unless you dine in. Overall, this was not a great experience. I’d recommend thinking carefully before booking here. There are many other places that offer better facilities, clearer policies, and much more value for your money.

Very convenient location, 15 minutes before entering Grand Teton National Park. We lived in a wagon and the views from it were beautiful. There was a heater in the wagon, which we really appreciated because the nights in September were already quite cold. We were given bed linen, towels and there were blankets. I read a lot of negative reviews about the showers, I do not agree with them. The shower is normal, not super new, but not terrible either. This is a campsite, after all. Such a shower was enough for a comfortable bath. The workers in the cafe and the store did not seem at all happy to see people. I do not expect them to jump for joy, but a simple smile and greeting would have been enough. Remember that this is a farm. Sometimes at night we heard dogs and coyotes/wolves screaming. Several times in the morning and at night cows walked near our wagon. Literally behind the wall and they were heard VERY well. So a good night's sleep was always at risk. It wasn't a big problem for us, but it's important to know.

I read all the reviews and I was concerned and almost canceled. I am so glad I didn’t cancel because it was the best experience ever! All you need to keep in mind that this is kind of like camping out. You are roughing it but in a glam sort of way. So yes, there might be a fly in your covered wagon. You have to use the public restrooms, but they’re all private. The covered wagons had electricity to charge your phone, and we experienced a wagon where the gas heating worked wonderfully. It was also a beautiful light show. So just like if you were pitching a tent, you would have to be concerned about the items in your tent because it’s not locked. However no one stole from us. We just kept our bedding/pillows (things we brought) in the wagon; phones, food, electronics, etc., we took with us on our day excursions. We thought it was incredibly charming, and the views were amazing of the streams, and the Tetons in the distance! We love the old for trapper restaurant and bar. Very charming. It was a wonderful experience!

Great views! Our wagon's heater stopped working halfway through our stay and was never fixed. When we emailed the owner, he responded quite rudely. Many of the bad reviews aren't quite fair, seems like people were expecting this to be more of a glamping style property. But yes, the restrooms are certainly undersized and underserviced for how many people use it when the ranch is fully booked. However, this place does seem to lack a lot of the bare minimums it advertises.

There are 2 good things about this place one is the view, and two is there is no signal for your cell phone, so there are no distractions from the beauty. They charge you for bedding rental. If you want a glass of water, it's $2, a can of beer is $10, and they charge $5 for a to go container, and they call it an "environmental fee", I call it tourist robbery. The facilities are bad, the bathrooms wouldn't drain so the floors were flooded. The cafe only had one person working, so it took an hour and a half for 6 milk shakes, and he refused to make anything except for fried food. The cots were very uncomfortable.

For what it is(camping) it's great we stayed in a wagon. It had a propane heater that kind of smelt but it is what it is. Great views !! It was a family bonding experience. They have lots of horse make sure to ask to pet because only some enjoy it. The cafe was horrible service and food they automatically added a gratuity for a coffee and food( different orders and day )
